Night Tales returns this winter for a 7-week celebration, hosting the best of London gastronomy, music and bar culture. To mark their return, Night Tales will be transforming an impressive 10,000-sq./ft. space in the heart of Shoreditch into this winter’s hottest hangout. There’s intimate seating areas, three new concept bars, new food partners, warming log fires, candlelight and the mystical festive atmosphere that won widespread acclaim last year. We sat down with Jamie Rule, Night Tales co-founder, to find out more on what to expect.
JAMIE RULE: At Background Bars [which Jamie co-founded with business partner Louis Hyams] we manage, design and build bar experiences, anything from rooftop bars in Peckham to festival bars for 20,000 people. We also manage large sites such as Red Market in Shoreditch. We’ve been going for two years and towards the end of summer 2013, when our last pop-up was winding down, we thought maybe it was time we set up our own event. We had all the right contacts in music, food, production and of course the bars, so we knew we had a good chance off pulling it off. We pulled the whole event together in six weeks.
JR: Another year means more experience and more ideas so expect everything you loved about the last one, with some further experimenting and perfecting on the food, production, music and particularly the cocktails.
JR: We have such a great lineup of restaurants this year; Patty&Bun, Voodoo Rays, Rum kitchen, Yum Bun, Morty & Bobs and a few special guest food vendors will be announced along the way!
JR: Us of course, Background Bars. We have two specialist cocktail bars and a main bar at Night Tales this winter serving Night Expresso Martinis, Almond White Russians, 5 Spiced Negroni, champagne reduced Whisky Sours, craft beers and many more.
JR: The opening weekend we have Late Night Tales hosting with a Django Django DJ set and Low Life with Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. We’ll be releasing line-ups each week, and sometimes you’ll just have to come to find out!
JR: A pioneering two-tiered structure with a raised platform mezzanine, four 25m stretch canopies to protect you from the winter elements, intimate seating areas, wild gardens and private chalets…
