Love a spot of jazz? How about a spot of jazz with a wee bit of dram? Well in the words of famous jazz clarinettist Artie Shaw, “jazz was born in a whisky barrel”, so it’s only fitting that on World Whisky Day (Saturday 21st May), craft whisky brand R&B Distillers will be taking over Kansas Smitty’s jazz and julep bar for an evening of whisky tastings and juleps.
From 5.30-7pm R&B Brand ambassador Chris Hoban and Kansas Smitty’s bartender Victoria Charlton will lead a fun and interactive night involving plenty of sipping, hmm-ing and educational tips and tricks behind the perfect julep.
To get things rolling, on arrival guests will be given a refreshing Piney Brown Julep. Following on from this, they’ll then be invited to sample a dram of R&B’s two whiskies – the rose tinted single malt While We Wait and the golden single grain Borders.
Live music will commence at 8pm, so make sure you stay not only to hear the set from The Saturday Night Special Band, but to sample a cocktail from the whisky-only menu, inspired by jazz and blues artists who loved the golden nectar.
We think it makes for a swingin’ look at two of the world’s dashing crafts.
