Now this is something to get excited about. No, we’re not talking about your night in with pizza and Netflix; we’re talking about DJ Krush finally coming back to London!

The hip-hop Godfather and legendary pioneer of Japanese hip-hop DJ Krush, will be flying in from Tokyo to play a very rare set at Electric Brixton on Saturday 19th March, his first London show for 2 years.

Hideaki Ishi — better known by his stage name DJ Krush — is certainly no amateur at this game. With a career spanning over 20 years he is still one of the biggest and most accomplished influencers in the industry. It was the movie “Wild Style” that first got the DJ and producer into hip-hop and in 1987, he formed KRUSH POSSSE which made numerous appearances in various media as the best hip-hop act in Japan.

DJ Krush’s brand of instrumental hip-hop took the genre to a whole different level, an impact that is still felt today in the vast swathe of West Coast Hip Hop championed by the Stones Throw and Brainfeeder as well as new acts, Shabazz Palaces and Ratking.

His new album ‘Butterfly Effect’ continues to showcase his superb sense of mixing and composing —his distinguished atmospheric production incorporates sound elements from nature and extensive use of jazz and soul samples.

Aside from his global activities as producer, re-mixer and DJ, he is consistently expanding his skill set by delving into soundtracks for films, TV dramas & commercials, as well as live sessions with various musicians.

So you can tell why we’re thrilled to bits he’s coming to London. His last sell-out show at KOKO had everyone in a state of electrifying disbelief: his masterclass in layering and beat manipulation blew the place to smithereens.
Supporting Krush is producer and musician Free The Robots. Part of the Brainfeeder crew, he is currently making waves with his fusion of jazz, psych, electronic and hip-hop.

Reforming after a 5-year hiatus especially for this show will be Mo’wax label mates, Attica Blues, who have previously worked with DJ Krush —further adding to this monster event.
