What do you do when your independent clothing boutique loses a two year legal battle to a high street retail giant? Throw a massive party, of course.
After 13 years of trading under the name ‘Shop Dutty’, the much-loved purveyors of 90s-inspired street chic are being forced to undergo a total rebrand following a trademark dispute with Spanish brand Massimo Dutti.
Renowned for their innovative mix of the freshest local design talent with high-end vintage and upcycled pieces, Shop Dutty has a lot to answer for when it comes to Bristol’s unique street style scene. In keeping with the city’s supportive attitude towards small businesses, the rebrand will be financed by the local community through an ambitious crowdfunding campaign.
The new name and upcoming collection will be revealed this weekend at The Dutty Whine Up, an exclusive club night bringing together some of the biggest music acts in Bristol at an as of yet undisclosed venue. Tickets start at £25, with all sales going towards the rebrand; for an extra fiver you can bag yourself a Dutty T-shirt. Expect carnival-themed decor, secret headliners and some very well-dressed partygoers.
