FABRICLIVE Dub Phizix Launch Party

FABRICLIVE Dub Phizix Launch Party IMAGE: fabric

Care to spend your Friday night “uniting the ever morphing strains of club music”? No, this is not some high school scientific experiment or lacklustre lecture discussing musical manifestations and disparate sounds. This is Friday night at FABRICLIVE. And in typical fabric form, their weekly programme is nothing less than impressive. Friday nights at this colossal Farringdon club are all about exploring how music is ever-evolving in oblique circles: in a nutshell, they’re pulling together and curating all the best new sounds and scenes under one roof, in one night. Sign us up.

Spread out over 25,000 square feet and three rooms, fabric is one of London’s premier venues for a reason. World-class soundsystems enhance the profound tune selection and awe-inspiring line-ups, which on a Friday eve are normally drum & b ass, dubstep and hip-hop. This Friday 20th November, Birmingham DJ Hannah Wants will return to headline Room one — which we all know is unique for its “bodysonic” dancefloor. As Hannah performs her wizardry on the turntables, parts of the floor that are attached to 450 bass transducers will allow us clubbers to feel the music through the low end frequencies transmitted into our skeletons via our feet. Spooky? Nup, this is fun.

The successful DJ who’s distinctive ability to connect sonically with today’s party-minded cohort, will also be flanked by the adept No Artificial Colours, 02:31 boss Tom Shorterz, Barely Legal and Amy Becker. And that’s only Room One.

Room Two will host the launch party for Dub Phizix’s FABRICLIVE 84 mix with a bill that combines both his personal musical influences and the cluster of styles included on the CD. The creator of a new style of Drum and Bass music that combines influences from all over the world, the Manchester-born Dub Phizix started this obsession over 20 years ago — so there’s no doubting this veteran will put on a good show.

Alongside Phizix’s regular MC Strategy (who’s been a major player in the UK hip hop scene, as a member of Broke’n’English), Manchester’s maniacal emcee crew LEVELZ, Exit signee Skeptical, Marcus Intalex and DJ Riot from Buraka Som Sistema will perform alongside Phizix.

Better get your tickets fast — this is one Friday night at fabric you do NOT want to miss.
