Wood-fired pizza, local beer and… fresh flowers. It might not be the typical permutation, but Heist Bank’s intentions were never about being same-same. The all-day Paddington haunt opened this summer and has brought something completely new and refreshing to the neighbourhood. Urban Leisure Group, the masterminds behind the Heist are responsible for such other successes as Graphic and The Alice House.
And they’ve got ample room to stage their raid too: the unused commercial space clocks in at just under 6,000 square feet and features a fully stocked bar, restaurant area and outside seating for 50 people. The contemporary interior has a quirky, industrial feel, with long bench seating, an Art Deco foosball table and an impressive double height graffiti installation from artist Pure Evil. The basement is available for hire for private parties of up to 45 people — those seeking nostalgia will adore the vintage Nintendos and self-service beer kegs.
With all this space, it was no-brainer that a wood burning oven was necessary — who wouldn’t want the ability to turn out delicious hot pizzas? Featuring local cheeses, cured meats and seasonal toppings (think Blue Murder cheese, cauliflower and brown butter Béchamel), they’re giving Naples a run for their money. Don’t finish drooling just yet though — they also serve slow roast lamb, steak and trout options, as well as a range of small plates if you’re only slightly peckish. Olive doughnuts, anyone?
Heist Bank also has an in-house florist Botanique with gorgeous flowers and arrangements available for purchase. Continuing the floral theme, you can expect your beer mats and take-out pizza boxes to come adorned with original floral designs by young British artists.
Heist Bank offers 12 local brews on draft, as well as a cocktail list with the classics, plus fresh-faced additions — the Southside Fizz won our hearts with its refreshing mix of mint-infused gin, lemon and soda.
And if you’re looking to build up an appetite, why not nab one of the bikes stationed outside? They’re available for guests to explore the ‘hood and venture up the canal. Whether you’re after lazy lunches, lively post-work drinks, serene cycling or big weekend celebrations, it’s the ideal one-stop shop.
As much as we’d like to keep it a secret, sharing is caring, right?
