Epic things happen when two stars collide, and there’s no better example than The Jackdaw and Star, London’s latest fancy pub.
The two stars in question here (please do excuse the pun) is the team behind The Star in Bethnal Green and the foodie tag-team responsible for The Sugarshack. Combined together, they’ve taken over this old boozer and turned into a right little fashionable hangout.
Anyone who’s been to The Star before will know that The Jackdaw and Star, based in Homerton, has been left in good hands. For the interior’s makeover they hired East End designer Lady Ray, who’s done a sterling job in restoring the place to its forgotten bohemian roots.
Meanwhile, there is a heavy emphasis on the food here. Over to you The Sugarshack duo, A.K.A Andi Oliver of ITV’s Food Glorious Food and Kelly Miles of indie pop-up The Birdcage. The pair like to experiment with smoked meats, as demonstrated by their selection here, which has all been smoked in apple, maple, alder and almond woods. Once smoked, the tasty meats are then served in club sandwiches, pulled pork croquettes, mac and cheeses and plenty more.
Fine taste all round, we say.
