Attention all London music fans and industry folk: clear your Wednesday evening schedules as Liverpool International Music Festival‘s award-winning LIMF Academy is in town for a special showcase event. Forget that £5 pizza night or date with the TV watching The Voice: this is the ideal chance to see riveting performances from some of the artists discovered by the LIMF Academy’s programme in 2015.

Held at Proud Galleries, the night is free to attend and will be hosted by BBC Introducing presenter Dave Monks and BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s DJ Target, both solid champions of new music in their corresponding areas.

In 2015 the LIMF Academy saw over 2,000 budding Merseyside musicians attend free workshops and master classes, of which twenty performed at showcases and three lucky winners were signed on to the Elite Talent Development Programme. Those three – Michael Seary, Jalen N’Gonda and Amique will be performing at this Wednesday’s event and sure to knock your socks off with their awe-inspiring talent.

Michael Seary is already fast becoming one of the hottest acts to come from the Liverpool underground scene. The musician, producer and DJ recently released a music video for his single ‘You Are Mine’ featuring Spokazi that featured on BBC Introducing’s 1Xtra playlist in March 2016 and is steering towards the top, very swiftly indeed.

Jalen N’Gonda will take to the stage with his distinctive brand of soul-pop. Since signing on with Elite, Jalen has performed at Fiesta Bombada and Liverpool Soulfest, as well as supporting touring acts such as Frances, Martha Reeves and Laura Mvula.

Rounding up the three most-ready artists of 2015 is Amique, whose music fuses soul, rock, funk and jazz with noticeable ingenuity. He has performed at Wireless Festival as well as supported touring acts including Snarky Puppy, Kirk Whalum and JP Cooper.

The LIMF Academy is one of the leading music development programmes in the North-West. The scheme offers the perfect opportunity for promising artists and bands between the ages of 13-25 to perform on the LIMF Academy stage at Europe’s biggest free music event, LIMF Summer Jam, as well as free access to professional career advice, training and development.

The 12 month Elite Talent Development Programme will again be awarded this year to three artists or bands. It’s an unrivalled scheme with all its offerings such as career investment, mentoring, regional and national performance opportunities and numerous other benefits including professionally produced biography, press shots and music. The winners have skill —and Wednesday night will be fun, so make sure you head along and support these budding artists.

Wednesday 27th April, doors open at 7pm, first act at 7.20pm

Proud Camden, The Horse Hospital, The Stables Market, Chalk Farm Rd, London NW1 8AH
