Who doesn’t love a good BBQ feast? It doesn’t have to be 30 degrees to spark that Weber, nor does it have to be decidedly less shoddy weather than it is in London most of the time to enjoy some full-flavoured barbecued meats. No way — we can just head to Low, Slow & Juke all year round.

Situated on the stretch between Victoria and Westminster, Low, Slow & Juke will bring some juicy flavour to the area that is becoming somewhat less barren, thanks to new residential and lifestyle developments that have been opening up consistently.

Low, Slow & Juke is a heady mix of blues & jazz, that will immerse you in Deep South Americana, somewhere between 1930s New Orleans and Bladerunner’s Los Angeles circa 2019. It’s a vibrant, and character-filled interior, with textured, reclaimed panelling that has been salvaged from the British Museum display cabinets. Then there are neon signs, light boxes and Deep South curios to add further detail, as well as a working smokehouse downstairs and loops of festoon lighting overhead. The cool, mysterious ambience beckons to be discovered.

Carnivores will be drooling at the menu from the get go. Main meat dishes are hand rubbed and rested for 24 hours before being smoked low and slow for 16 hours. Specialities include St. Louis Slab Ribs, Beef Brisket, Beef Ribs and honey & BBQ glaze, through to high quality brisket burgers. Pulled pork and beef in brioche rolls are an exciting brunch item, yet it’s the insane flavour-packed sides that are strong competitors for centre stage — parmesan & truffle sour cream fries, bacon fat popcorn or pit beans? The diet can wait: there’s no holding back here.

To complement all these punchy flavours, they’ll be serving some killer crafted cocktails with a signature smoked element. Try a smoked new fashioned Old Fashioned with housemade cinnamon syrup and smoked with oak chips; or a Queen Mary that reinvents the bloody Mary with black pudding purée, homemade horseradish and a fresh fennel pork scratching. If cocktails ain’t your thing, don’t worry, naturally bourbon and whiskey are stacked high at the bar, as well as craft beers and wines.

This is a slice of Deep South with soulful style — expect live music nights later on in the year to really amp the atmosphere. Lock. Us. In.
