Can’t afford the Eurostar to Paris, but are dying to see some of your favourite French house and techno artists? Well then you’re in luck because this Saturday, Paris will come to London.
Hold-up: don’t expect any Eiffel Tower reconstruction or Rex Club appearing at Piccadilly. No, this is much more of a simpler approach, whereby one of our top London clubs Fire are planning a night of French-only artists.
Francophile? Pfft, once you’ve heard any of these kids on the line-up, you’ll change your ‘tude — rapidement.
First up there’s dOP: the notorious live trip from Paris were first discovered in 2010 in Barcelona and have since been regulars at Unleash. With releases on many great labels such as Circus Company, Watergate Records, Supplement Facts, Eklo and many more you can expect their sound to be a mixture of driven house and techno, coupled with crazy live vocals courtesy of the singer JAW.
Next on the agenda is Masomenos —the duo composed of a Joan, a graphic designer/DJ and Adrien, a producer/ sound engineer and will be playing both live and a DJ set.
Following on from Masomenos is Lazare Hoche: originally a construction law student when he decided to switch to a career in electronic music —evidently a change in the right direction because now he owns two imprints Lazare Hoche Records and Oscillat Music. Expect old-school bangers as well as minimal classics.
Djebali is next on the bill. Djebali started off his career over ten years ago, having been inspired by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos. Taking the leap and launching his own label back in 2011, his groovy house music is ubiquitously addictive.
POINT G needs little introduction. He has been releasing music since the 90’s under the alias DG Gregory, and in 2013 launched his own label Point G. Expect some original 909 and 808 drums during his infectious performance.
Now if you focus on fame you’ll sidestep the lesser known artist and get some serious FOMO the following day. Vadim Svoboda is probably the lesser known artists on the line-up, but he’s been instrumentally creative since the age of 4, and after his first trip to Ibiza he was converted into a house music fan. He then started producing music heavily and his first release “Supercharged” on “Makesense” is still to this day highly played by other Dj’s.
