Taste of England Wine Dinner

What better way to welcome the arrival of Spring than with a celebration of English flavours? Moreover, what if this celebration is in fact a specially curated wine dinner? Well thanks to 28°-50° Wine Workshop and Kitchen on Maddox Street, you can raise a glass and devour a delicious Spring meal at their Taste of England Wine Dinner on Thursday 21st April.

What’s even more fitting is that the 21st is actually Queen Lizzy’s birthday — and because we’re not invited to her house for some cake, we feel it’s only necessary that in her honour we indulge in our merriment. Here, here.

Hosted by the group’s Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer Clement Robert MS — who at 30 years old is the youngest Master Sommelier internationally — the Taste of England Wine Dinner at Maddox Street will feature a three course set menu replete with simple, seasonal dishes using only the finest ingredients locally sourced. They’ll even be toasting to the Queen at 7pm, before commencing the feast at 7.30pm.

Speaking of feast, this will start with English asparagus, Berkswell aioli, crisp Cumbrian ham and grilled flatbread to get the appetite going. A succulent, spring English lamb with burnt turnips, purple sprouting broccoli and peas for the main course will follow; and to round out your palate and complete the meal, there is a divine Drunkworth cheese, Alchemy apple brandy with an oat biscuit crumb.

Of course, it’s only fitting that in a wine workshop and kitchen, the talented Clement will have paired some superb wines for each course. These  include a Ridgeview 2013 Brut sparkling rosé from Sussex; a crisp, refreshing Three Choirs 2012, Coleridge Hill white wine; a fresh London Cru ‘SW6’ Syrah; and Pomona, a Somerset brandy.

Named after the latitudes within which most of the world’s vineyards are located, the 28°-50° Wine Workshop and Kitchen takes the classic wine bar experience to a completely different level. Owned by Chef Patron Aggi Sverrisson of Michelin starred Texture, 28°-50° has three sites in London – Maddox Street, Marylebone Lane and Fetter Lane, all of which provide a relaxed and informal dining experience.

The Taste of England Wine Dinner is the perfect way to get that Spring in your step —and rejoice to Lizzy’s birthday.

The Taste of England Wine Dinner will take place at the Maddox Street venue.

45 tickets are available for this event, priced at £65.00 per person.
