On Wednesday September 7th inquisitive foodies are invited to get in on the unstoppable trend for foraging at a specially curated event at Ask For Janice. The Modern British restaurant at Smithfield’s Market is offering guests the chance to learn the ins and outs of urban hunter-gathering – sipping and scoffing as they go.
Renowned wild food forager, Jason Irving, leads the evening, with his insider knowledge on gathering goods within metropolitan landscapes. Meanwhile Ask For Janice’s stellar bar and kitchen team will present suitably themed cocktails and an assortment of urban edibles. You’ll learn about foraging hotspots, plant recognition and ways to include your self-selected ingredients in everyday recipes.
Upon arrival, guests will receive the fragrant and tangy ‘Rosehip Bellini’ which showcases an underused autumnal ingredient. Jason will then introduce guests to a host of seasonal raw ingredients, such as wood sorrel, sea purslane, Douglas fir and Hackney horseradish, all of which will feature in a carefully crafted three-course menu.
A truly curious foray into the art of city foraging, the event is a must for any foodie with a penchant for experimentation.
