NETFLIX WEEKLY: Our top 5 binge-watchable TV shows

We’ve all had those days. The days when nothing, nor no one can change your mind about not wanting to leave the house, or even leave your beautiful, warm and trusting bed. So for when the world is too much and those days are upon you, we’ve put together a little list of the best shows on Netflix that you can binge watch in one TV gorge-a-thon sitting.

1) Bates Motel

If you’re in the mood to be a little bit freaked out, and hide under your covers whilst being equally thrilled by a good storyline and characters that you know all too well (or thought you knew) then Bates Motel is the show for your binge watching day. A modernised prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Bates Motel explores the teenage life of Norman Bates and the maternal relationship that is part responsible, if not the whole cause of his murderous future, this show is dark, scary and fantastic.

2) Arrested Development

Baby Michael Cera. Need we say more? Arrested Development is a lighthearted, ridiculous and down right funny show, with all the famous faces that make you go ‘oh, thats so and so from such a such!’  When George Bulth Sr is sent to prison for white-collar crime, his son Michael has to take over the family real estate company and his deranged, spoilt family are there to ruin everything for him whilst he tries to bring up his awkward son in an honourable manor. The storyline’s are often surprising and make you feel a little bit guilty for loving them so much. You’ll see what we mean when you watch it, you really should watch it, go on…watch away.

3) Attack On Titan

If you’ve never watched Anime before because you think it’s only for hardcore fans and nerdy types, do yourself a favour and avert your eyeballs towards this amazing show. The remainder of the human population live inside a series of three walls for protection from the Titans, giant, human eating creatures with extremely limited intelligence. But when a new species of Titan presents itself with a heck of a lot of intelligence and breaks down the outer wall, all hell breaks loose as the titans feast on the humans inside. Eren Jaeger, his sister and his best friend escape and decide something needs to be done to stop the titans once and for all. By the way, the version on Netflix is in English, so don’t worry about subtitles.

4) Breaking Bad

It’s not likely you’ll manage to get through BB’s 5 series in one sitting (if you do, you will henceforth be known as a hero/heroine to us) but just watching as much of this peerless, meth-cooking oriented show as you can is probably going to do you just as much good. Breaking Bad has often been dubbed the greatest TV show in history and there is no denying it is televisual making at its finest. So if you haven’t already, we strongly advise you to get on board with Mr White and Jesse in this funny, narcotic-brewing life they’ve got themselves into.

5) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

In March of this year, the Netflix gods (and Tina Fey) bestowed upon us the glorious, the wonderful, the spectacular; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! The story of four women who were held captive in an underground bunker for 15 years suddenly released into a world they don’t know anymore. Kimmy decides that she can’t go home and waste the life she’s been given all over again and tries to make it in New York. She gets a roomie, the irreplaceable Titus, and a job working for a super rich Manhattan family which need a heck of a lot of support. Kimmy Schmidt is a great show that you can definitely watch in one sitting: it’ll make you think about how good you’ve got it and is probably the best show to watch when you’re having an off day because it’ll make you realise what you can achieve if you do actually get out of bed tomorrow.
